Dinosaurs had fleas too _ giant ones, fossils show

(AP) ? In the Jurassic era, even the flea was a beast, compared to its minuscule modern descendants. These pesky bloodsuckers were nearly an inch long.

New fossils found in China are evidence of the oldest fleas ? from 125 million to 165 million years ago, said Diying Huang of the Nanjing Institute of Geology and Paleontology. Their disproportionately long proboscis, or straw-like mouth, had sharp weapon-like serrated edges that helped them bite and feed from their super-sized hosts, he and other researchers reported Wednesday in the journal Nature.

Scientists figure about eight or more of today's fleas would fit on the burly back of their ancient ancestor.

"That's a beast," said study co-author Michael Engel, entomology curator at the Natural History Museum at the University of Kansas. "It was a big critter. I can't even imagine coming home and finding my miniature schnauzer with one or more of these things crawling around on it."

The ancient female fleas were close to twice the size of the males, researchers found, which fits with modern fleas.

But Engel said it's not just the size that was impressive about the nine flea fossils. It was their fearsome beak capable of sticking into and sucking blood from the hides of certain dinosaurs, probably those that had feathers.

These flea beaks "had almost like a saw running down the side," Engel said. "This thing was packing a weapon. They were equipped to dig into something."

While the ancient fleas were big, they had one disadvantage compared to modern ones: Their legs weren't too developed. Evolving over time, fleas went from crawling to jumping, Huang said.

"Luckily for the land animals of the Mesozoic, these big flat fleas lacked the tremendous jumping capacity that our common fleas have," said Joe Hannibal of the Cleveland Museum of Natural History. He wasn't involved in the study, but praised it as useful and interesting.

Just finding the fleas was a stroke of luck, Huang said. He first found one in a Chinese fossil market and mentioned it to someone at his hotel. The other guest showed him a photo of another fossilized flea, telling him it was from Daohugou in northeastern China, where there's a famous fossil bed from about 165 million years ago. Huang went there and found fleas preserved in a brownish film of volcanic ash. The grains of rock were so fine you could see antennae and other details of the fleas, he said.

Modern fleas get engorged after they feast on blood, but these didn't seem engorged, Engel said.

It shouldn't seem too surprising that there were large fleas more than 100 million years ago. If you go back even farther in time, ancestors of dragonflies and damsel flies had 3-foot wingspans, Engel said.

Pitcher Yu Darvish gets going at last with Rangers

By JANIE McCAULEY

AP Baseball Writer

Associated Press Sports

updated 3:01 p.m. ET Feb. 23, 2012

SURPRISE, Arizona (AP) -The Texas Rangers would love to hear Yu Darvish's best go at "y'all."

"Some Texas twang, any type of slang," said fellow starter Colby Lewis, who spent time pitching in Japan in the opposite division as Darvish. "He'll have fun. It's going to be good."

Give him a little time, gang. Darvish most certainly would prefer to show off his powerful arm and remarkable athletic abilities before he delves into learning the lingo of the Lone Star State or belting out "Deep in the Heart of Texas."

Darvish, with his shaggy, orange-tinted hair and a dark goatee, pulled a blue long-sleeved Rangers workout shirt over his head Thursday and chatted up teammate Justin Miller as nearly everybody in the clubhouse eagerly watched. At 6-foot-5, he's quite a presence even before considering that the Rangers spent more than $107 million this winter to land him.

Texas will be dealing with some "Yusanity" this season.

"I guess this comes with success and all that," manager Ron Washington said Thursday, before taking the field to watch Darvish himself. "People are interested in the Texas Rangers so I guess we just have to deal with it."

The team's prize offseason pickup looked plenty comfortable in his new surroundings on the first day for pitchers and catchers at Surprise Stadium, where dozens of Japanese reporters arrived early to record the right-hander's every move.

No question his fame reaches cult status.

Fans lined the area around the bullpen to catch a glimpse and autograph hounds were relentless in their efforts, swarming until a claustrophobic circle formed around the pitcher as he wrapped up his work day. Darvish received a police escort between practice fields.

"I directed traffic," joked pitching coach Mike Maddux. "It's a little postseason pandemonium here in spring training. A lot of guys are well known. Sometimes you run into somebody who's famous. That's what we're dealing with, someone who's famous."

Texas personnel provided a detailed schedule for the star Japanese pitcher's highly anticipated first day: from when and where he would stretch and warm up to his first fundamental drill and then his initial bullpen session.

Darvish threw for five minutes in the bullpen followed by five minutes on the mound against live hitters, throwing 19 pitches during that session against a pair of minor leaguers - tossing an array of fastballs to both sides of the plate, sliders, curveballs, changeups and even one split-finger.

Catcher Mike Napoli asked to catch Darvish on Day 1, when slugger Josh Hamilton also was out on the field and signing autographs.

"I'm just excited to get the chance to see him pitch for the first time aside from the footage on ESPN," new Rangers reliever Joe Nathan said. "His work ethic seems to be outstanding. We had a chance to talk yesterday. He enjoys getting in the weight room as much as he enjoys pitching. That will help him pitch a long time and he should adjust a lot quicker."

Darvish's father, Farsad, is in the Arizona desert to help his son through that process. The baseball part of Darvish's life will take care of itself, his father said.

"He seems to be doing OK," the elder Darvish said. "I don't really talk to him about his baseball career. That he gets adjusted and used to the culture is my concern. He's been in the big leagues in Japan and gets a lot of attention, so to him this is normal."

The two-time reigning AL champion Rangers don't envision communication problems with the 25-year-old Darvish, and Washington has no plans to learn Japanese - for one, he doesn't see it fitting it into his already hectic spring schedule.

"I don't want to trash the language," Washington quipped. "I'll use my universal baseball language. I trash the English language."

Washington won't say what day Darvish will first pitch in Cactus League action or guess how many wins he will earn as a rookie. There will be huge expectations given he signed a $56 million, six-year contract and the Rangers paid his Japanese club $51.7 million just to have the chance to acquire him.

"I think we're all excited about seeing him throw, watching him do his work," Rangers president and CEO Nolan Ryan said. "I think watching video on him I have an expectation of what he's going to be like so I don't think it's going to be really much different from what I've seen in the videos of him. But you know just seeing his delivery, watching him from different angles and that kind of stuff. Obviously everybody that's been involved in this process is anxious to see that."

The brass lined up behind the fence to observe Darvish's initial session. He impressed all right - and he was only going at 80 percent according to Napoli and the pitching coaches. When he faced top prospect Jurickson Profar and Ryan Strausborger the protective L screen stood right in front of the mound as a precaution.

Napoli gave Darvish a high-five and a hug after they were done.

Seattle resident and Mariners fan David Duggan showed up Thursday with Darvish's World Baseball Classic jersey hoping to get it signed for his 20-month-old daughter, Hannah.

"When Ichiro came I didn't realize the magnitude of it," Duggan said. "This could be like Ichiro mania or Dice-K mania."

Darvish's routine has been carefully mapped out. He will throw every other day and pitch in an intrasquad game on Day 9.

"He handles himself well," Maddux said. "He was there and eager to go. He didn't want to wait to throw. That's refreshing."

High season for tornadoes ahead, eyes on Southeast

(AP) ? With the month of March looming, tornado chasers are already watching the Southeast as a nasty storm brews with the potential to spin off a batch of tornadoes.

But if funnel clouds develop Thursday or Friday as some forecasters believe, they won't be the first. This tornado season got an early and deadly start in late January when two people were killed by separate twisters in Alabama. Preliminary reports showed 95 tornadoes struck last month, compared with 16 in January during a particularly stormy 2011.

The season usually starts in March and then ramps up for the next couple of months, but forecasting these storm seasons is even more imprecise than predicting hurricane seasons. Tornadoes are too small and too short-lived for scientists to make seasonal predictions. They don't develop like blizzards and hurricanes, which are easier to project.

They pop in and pop out. The storms that give them birth may last only a few hours. Hurricanes and blizzards are lumbering beasts that spend days moving across the satellite maps. When a hurricane approaches, coastlines get days warning to evacuate. With a tornado, if the weather service can let people know 20 minutes in advance, it's considered a victory.

"The Joplin (Mo.) tornado (that killed 158 people last May) wasn't violent until just about the time it got to the hospital," said Harold Brooks, a research scientist at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's National Severe Storms Laboratory, in Norman, Okla. "Even when you're in the field, there are still times when you're surprised by the intensity of the event and how quickly it started."

If a forecast for a hurricane or blizzard is off by a mile, it's still bad weather. But a mile difference means no damage in a tornado, Brooks said: "It's so much finer in time and space on the tornado, it does make it a harder problem."

It takes a piece of debris only a few seconds to fly around an entire tornado; it takes hours to circle a hurricane. But tornadoes, though smaller, can have stronger winds. Since 1950, there have been 58 tornadoes in the United States with winds exceeding 200 mph; six last year alone. Only three hurricanes have made U.S. landfall with winds more than 155 mph.

And forecasters are telling the Southeast and heartland to get ready again.

"It looks like this week we're moving into a slightly more active dynamic pattern," said warning meteorologist Greg Carbin at the National Weather Service's Storm Prediction Center, also in Norman, Okla.

The percolating Southeastern storm is proof of exactly how hard meteorologists have it. On Tuesday evening, Carbin said, "We're kind of expecting it to be a fairly significant event" and the storm center's website had a small red swath for potential severe storms with tornadoes.

By Wednesday morning, the storm center's forecast was much less clear. While the storm looks bad with potential for tornadoes, one of the key ingredients ? unstable upper level air ? is not quite behaving as predicted. So that means forecasters have less an idea of when and where the bad weather and potential twisters will hit, said Corey Mead, a meteorologist at the center.

By Wednesday afternoon, the storm prediction center massively expanded its Thursday watch area to include Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, West Virginia and parts of Virginia, the Carolinas and most of Florida.

"A lot of things have to come together at once to have a tornadic storm and the skill at forecasting all those things is near zero," said Howard Bluestein, a professor at the University of Oklahoma. "They are definitely more unpredictable."

All this comes on the heels of one of the worst tornado years in U.S. history. Tornadoes in 2011 started the earliest ever ? New Year's Day ? killing 550 people, injuring 5,400 and causing $10 billion in damage over the year, the most in U.S. history. The 2011 season had the most tornadoes in a single day and a single month on record.

But if you ask tornado experts what that means for this year, they'll answer that they just don't know. Later this summer, meteorologists will meet in a special conference to try to figure out how to do that type of longer-term tornado prediction. And the National Weather Service is installing new radar for live forecasting, tracking and distinguishing of tornadoes. Those together mean that maybe in 2020 or so, meteorologists will be able to say watch out this season or relax a bit ? but not just yet, Brooks said.

A new study by Columbia University professor Michael Tippett points out potential factors ? vertical wind shear, updraft and a type of rainfall ? that might help for long-range tornado forecasts.

Another factor is La Nina, the flip side of El Nino. It's a cooling of the central Pacific Ocean. Scientists have noticed a correlation between strong La Ninas and active tornado seasons ? including last year. But it's not so simple or clear-cut, Tippett and others say. The current La Nina is weakening so much it shouldn't be a factor this year, several experts said.

The new radar, called dual polarization, allows meteorologists to see through rain and dark and be sure if high winds are a tornado. In the past, meteorologists had to wait for ground confirmation. This won't help with long-term forecasts but could save lives in real-time because forecasters can be more certain in their warnings, said National Weather Service meteorologist Paul Schlatter.

(AP) ? Police escorted bloodied passengers up to ambulances, cordoned off the street near a stricken London subway station and rushed off to find an half-exploded knapsack.

But it was all just an Olympic security drill.

Britain's police, fire and ambulance services tested their ability Wednesday to deal with a terrorist attack during the London Olympics, swooping on a disused subway station for a drill that revived painful memories of the 2005 bomb attacks on London's transit system.

The two-day test ? called "Forward Defensive" ? started at the Aldwych subway station, which has been closed to commuters since 1994. The London Underground maintains the station so it can be used in movies and rented for parties. Its narrow staircases, looping track, tunnel and platform make it the perfect location to simulate dealing with an emergency in close quarters.

"If there are mistakes, this is the time to make them, not when there's a real incident," said British Transport Police spokesman Simon Lubin.

For participants, the test evoked memories of the July 7, 2005, London transit attacks, when four suicide bombers killed 52 commuters on three subway trains and a bus. That attack came a day after London was awarded the 2012 Olympics.

One of the primary areas under review was the communications ability of emergency workers, different police services, government ministers and transport officials. Official reports and an inquest had criticized the emergency services' response to the 2005 bombings.

"I think we have obviously since that event (the 2005 attack) learned a number of lessons," said Howard Collins, chief operating officer of London Underground. "A lot of investment has happened, not only in the Tube but also in those emergency services, new radio systems, new equipment. So we are going to see all those new things tested."

The security exercise involving 2,500 people simulated an attack on one of the busiest days during the 2012 London Olympics. Authorities said the scenario involved a partially exploded knapsack on the Underground.

Among those watching the drill was office worker Michelle Bailey, 31.

"It brought it back to me, what happened in 2005," she said. "At least they're prepared, this time."

The Olympics present a massive security concern. Ever since 11 Israeli athletes and coaches died in an attack at the 1972 Munich Games, the event has been seen as a magnet for groups anxious to publicize their cause.

British authorities have planned for a threat level for the London games of "severe," meaning an attack is "highly likely."

British authorities have refused to discuss whether there has been any particular threat to the London Olympics, which open July 27 and end Aug. 12.

The cause of menopausal flashes

We've Found a Pulse! Retail Businesses Driving Life into an ...

After spending a lot of money on gifts and decors as well as availing of doorbuster deals from major retailers, consumers normally hold back after the holiday season. As such, businesses expect lower sales figures during the first months of the year ? but not this time. Figures show that consumers have gone back to stores to spend some more this year.

According to the National Retail Federation, January retail industry sales (excluding automobiles, gas stations and restaurants) increased 0.9 percent seasonally adjusted from December and 4.0 percent unadjusted year-over-year.

?Thanks to a combination of unseasonably warm weather across much of the country and millions of shoppers with gift cards burning holes in their pockets, retailers are still riding the tailwinds of consumers? spending power,? said National Retail Federation President and CEO Matthew Shay. ?As a traditionally slower sales month for the industry, it?s encouraging to see such sustained growth in consumer spending and sentiment.?

Meanwhile, data ?released today by the U.S. Department of Commerce, showed total retail sales (which include non-general merchandise categories such as autos, gasoline stations and restaurants) increased 5.6 percent unadjusted year-over-year and 0.4 percent seasonally adjusted month-to-month.

Significant changes on consumers ?core? spending of Americans include general merchandises (2.0%, 5.8% YoY); sporting goods, hobby, books and music (1.1%, 4.3% YoY); furniture and home furnishing (-0.2%, 7.8% YoY); and building materials, garden equipment and supplies (0.2%, 8.1% YoY). Purchases in electronics and appliances has been on a decline as they only increased by 0.5% and dropped 0.6%YoY.

"All the post-holiday markdowns and gift cards received during the holidays worked their magic. They brought people into the stores," said Libby Bierman, analyst at Sageworks.

Although January?s retail business report looks good, Paul Dale, senior U.S. economist for Capital Economics said that they don?t suggest that consumption growth is about to set the economic recovery alight. David Greenlaw, an economist at Morgan Stanley, agrees. He said the report showed consumers simply "don?t have the income growth to go crazy."

Retail sales serve as the pulse indicator of the consumers ? the primary drivers of the economy. By somewhat defying the old trend of lackluster sales during the beginning of the year, they show that they are still able to contribute to the economic recovery. The fact that the retail industry is backed up by consumer spending makes it a good acquisition opportunity. So if your company is interested in buying a retail business for sale, do so now without hesitation.

Freelance Writers Who Succeded Without The Internet | The WM ...

Last week we read the stories and tips of freelance writers who became successful without the help of courses or books?even if they were available at the time. Experiences shaped their lessons, and and they learned well.

I decided to feature three stories of freelance writers who learned and grew without the aid of any of the instant communication and efficient transportation devices we have today. Why?

It?s more than an attempt to show you that if they could do it, you could certainly do it. It?s not just a ?look back.?

Lick a stamp or two. Meet an editor in person. Hustle your way from 1-year intern to 17-year veteran.

When you read these stories, you?ll find tips and practices that are just as successful now as they were then?and perhaps moreso, since they?re becoming just rare enough to give you a unique head start.

I sold my first article in 1977, when I was a senior in college, and loved being paid $1 a word. My first ?client? was? my eye doctor, who sent me a follow-up thank-you letter that was so terrible I told him I could do much better. He paid me $100 to write three letters for his business. Soon after that I joined a local networking group. I was the only woman in?the group, but by the time I moved from Houston, I had worked with and for each one of them, and they had referred me to others.

Bit by bit, I began branching out and seeking out other businesses and clients who needed to improve their communications. A friend of mine edited a women?s magazine and offered me a few assignments, so when those were published I had clips to send to other magazines with queries, which led to many articles and opportunities.

I?ve received letters from many writers through the years in response to short notes I?ve sent them complimenting them on their work. Frequently those ?fan letters? have led to writing assignments. I interviewed a Grammy-winning composer after singing one of his pieces and writing him a letter. The article was published in Chorus America. I met and interviewed a well-known screenwriter and novelist after reading a book of his that I loved; that piece was published in a literary journal and is cited among the several works written about his career.

Finally, my former husband (also a writer) and I are co-authoring a book on parenting after divorce. I have already published the first chapter, ?The Ten Commandments of Co-Parenting.? We have an agent.

I?learned that there is a market for good writing about anything. A successful freelancer will become an expert in one thing and write for many markets about that person/subject or branch out and experience many things, writing and publishing about them whenever and wherever possible. That?s how a small business is built.

Colleen Plimpton: Coming Face-To-Face With?The Dream?Editor

I write regularly for Hearst?s Fairfield County and Albany, New York areas. My column appears twice a month, and my gardening articles appear once a month in their regional magazine, Life @ Home. As a result, Hearst hires me to conduct gardening lectures at local nurseries. I also write formany other gardening and home publications.

As a direct result of my freelance work, I?ve had success with my first book, and have just acquired an agent for my second book. My lecture business has grown by leaps and bounds, and I have all the work I want!

When I started out, I didn?t have a class or a book when I started freelancing, but what I did have was determination and a game plan. I sent queries by snail-mail, and missives on letterhead stationery to prospective lecture venues. I selected the areas to write about in which? I was most knowledgeable & enthusiastic. For me that was gardening and public speaking.

My first paid magazine writing gig was for GreenPrints magazine, about garden diaries. I sent that piece in cold. I?d researched garden magazines, and discovered that the editor/founder of GreenPrints had been a honcho at The Mother Earth News, of which I?d been a hippie, back-to-the-land devotee in the 70?s. So I sent him a personal letter referencing that fact, enclosed the article I?d written for a writing class, and and he took it!

Before it was published, I arranged to ?run into? the GreenPrints editor, at a Garden Writers Symposium in Pennsylvania.?I was attending as a newbie, but when I heard he was there, I had someone point him out. He gave me a big smile, and from his backpack pulled a freshly-minted copy of the issue bearing my article. What a thrill!

In pursuit of publication for Hearst, I repeatedly sent in paper copies, complete with real photographs, for several years, through several editors of our newspaper, the Danbury News-Times. No response.?Finally, I met the new editor in person at a community gathering. I introduced myself, handed him my card, told him how I?d like to write for him, and voila! He gave me the name of the person to pitch. We started communicating by phone, and the rest is history. I?ve been writing my paid column for 3 years now; it goes to 4 newspapers, (over 133,000 homes), and recently Hearst expanded my reach into their regional magazines. Yippee!

A few tips I?ve used successfully: Since I?m good at setting a scene, I generally start my queries there, complete with sensory detail and dialogue if possible. Once an article appears, I always jot a note of thanks to the editor, or whomever I?ve worked with on the piece. In my thank-you note, I often mention an idea for the next article; this sometimes gives me a head start.

Joanne Cleaver: Mrs. Cleaver?s Steps To Freelance Success

Back in 1981, I graduated with a master?s in journalism from Northwestern?s Medill School 6 months pregnant. In my lemon-yellow jumper and white cotton blouse I went to talk with the editors at Crain?s Chicago Business, proposing that I take my 12 months? total experience as an intern at a financial trade association magazine and use that as a springboard to covering Chicago companies.

I wrote one story for Crain?s in August, had my baby on Sept. 5, and in late October, got a call from the editor: Was I ready to come back? Pretty decent of him, considering I?d barely been there to begin with! That was the start of a 17-year run writing weekly for Crain?s. I had the longest, most gradual ramp-up in freelance history, because I kept having babies, too.

By 1989 I had three kids, was writing for national trade magazines like Advertising Age, and had written my first book: Doing Children?s Museums, a national guide to kids? museums. Now an expert on kids? museums, I started getting approached by editors at national magazines to write on that topic? and then about family travel? and then about moms and careers.

I now advocate for freelancers as director of freelance growth at Ebyline.com, a virtual newsroom platform that makes freelancing friction-free for both contributors and publishers. Ebyline enables freelancers to connect with a community of editors who are actively looking to assign stories and develop their networks of writers.

I continue to manage major research projects; write books?my latest, ?The Career Lattice: Combat Brain Drain, Improve Company Culture, and Attract Top Talent,? comes out in spring from McGraw Business; and run a strategic communication firm that specializes in messaging and media training.

Here are the steps that got me where I am today:

  1. Own a topic. My big lesson from my first decade is to find a niche with growth potential and own it. Become the writer who has the most inside knowledge, the best contacts, and the greatest breadth of understanding of that topic.
  2. Win assignments?for that topic. Step 1 enables you to use that platform to pitch editors at a wide variety of outlets about that topic. Once you use your ?expertise? topic to wedge your foot in the door, you can then pitch that editor on related topics.
  3. Establish a relationship with the editor. Once the editor reaches a comfort level with your work, you can start expanding the actual topics.
  4. Win additional assignments on new topics.
  5. Own another of those topics. That?s how to get from, for example, a technical topic (your core expertise) to travel writing (not your core expertise and highly competitive).
  6. Repeat!

Dresses with an extra feminine flair | scalloped dress, trapeze style ...

scalloped dress, trapeze style dresses

?

Feminism comes with class and good taste. Whether it is in the variety of fabrics or different cuts, getting that girly touch enhances one?s appearance a great deal. In fact even the runways had the likes of the famous brand Celine that used minimalism and simple tailoring to accentuate the emphasis of the luxury of fabrics.

Airy and soft fabrics are sensual and the epitome of feminism. Ranging from lace, frills, fur, and the list can go on and on. Did you see Kate Middleton sport lace sleeves of her wedding day? The lace added such elegance to her wedding gown. While Givenchy played with lace, Michael Kors as well as Lanvin toyed with the fur element to provide a lady like yet chic image. Did you know that lacy blouses, pleated dresses among others have been dominating fashion trends across the world?

I recently introduced sophisticated elements like lace, spangles, leather are some of the ?girly? embellishments into my wardrobe. It was time I got in sync with the fashion trends and introduced a feminine touch to my wardrobe.

Gone are the days in which a simple cut dress was the only style that I ever chose. Experimenting with scalloped dresses has become a passion. The ?posh? Victoria Beckham to stunning Emma Roberts have been spotted showing off their?girly?flair in a scalloped dress. So, what are you waiting for?

If you want a smart look, just sport your scalloped dress with boots. You like it simple and chic? Just pair up your dark colored dress with a pair of nude pumps and a neutral clutch to give that extra edge. The key is to accessorize it just right to get an edgy look!

In fact you can get experimental with say a trapeze dress as well. Belts, jackets, shrugs are some interesting ways to add more character to it too! Prints or solids are your choice!

Say goodbye to simple attire and dress it up in girly style!

Apple iPhone market share to slip from Q1: Gartner

Wed Feb 15, 2012 4:47am EST

(Reuters) - Apple, which became the world's largest smartphone vendor in the fourth quarter, will see its iPhone market share slipping for a couple of quarters as the novelty of its latest 4S model runs out, research firm Gartner said on Wednesday.

Apple saw its iPhone sales more than double in the last quarter when it took a 24 percent share of the smartphone market, helped by a 15-month period before the 4S model was launched, which created a lot of pent-up demand.

Gartner said Apple's strong performance will continue into the first quarter of 2012 as availability of the iPhone 4S widens, but without the benefit from delayed purchases sales would decline from the previous quarter.

In contrast to Apple's blow-out quarter, former smartphone market leader Nokia saw its share of that market fall to 12 percent from 30 percent just a year ago.

Gartner also said cellphone market growth would slow this year as the weakening economies hurting the demand.

Gartner said it saw growth in the overall cellphone sales volume slowing to 7 percent from 11 percent growth seen last year, while smartphone market growth would slow to 39 percent from 58 percent.

"In some of the regions economic conditions have slowed down the replacement market. Consumers are more cautious," said analyst Roberta Cozza.

Prada phone by LG 3.0 review

LG and Prada have a history of collaboration; their debut phone arrived around the same time as the first iPhone, sporting a black and white display, a petite footprint and a 2-megapixel camera.
